1996

Aug.

National meeting of local access providers in Obihiro.

1997

Oct. Establishment of the Japan Local Access Providers Association (JLAPA).

1998

Feb. First meeting of local access providers in Tokyo.

1999

Aug. Meeting of 11 volunteers to prepare for the establishment of an organization to set up
"Japan Internet Providers Association," a voluntary organization.
Dec. Founding meeting of "Japan Internet Providers Association," a voluntary organization (successor to JLAPA).
At the time of establishment, there are 43  board member companies and 107 member companies.
Dec. Opening of the association office at Sakuragaoka-cho 3-24, Shibuya-ku.

2000

Mar. Establishment of department structure, start-up of department activities.
Dec. Beginning of participation in Internet Week 2000.
Dec. Founding meeting of "Japan Internet Providers Association," an incorporated organization, held by the founders.
Dec. Permission given by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications
(current Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) to found the incorporated organization.

2001

Apr. Participation in the establishment of the Council for the Promotion of Network Information Security Manager (NISM).
Sep. Publication of the first survey on the actual situation of Internet service providers.

2002

Feb. Participation in setting up the council to study guidelines, etc., regarding ISP Law (Law of Providers' Responsibility).
Apr. Participation in the establishment of the Internet Access Service Safe and Security Mark Promotion Group.
May. Participation in the establishment of the providers' council regarding ISP Law.
Jun. Participation in the establishment of the Telecom-lSAC Japan.

2003

Oct. Beginning of participation in ICANN.
Nov. Participation in the Council for the Promotion of Telecommunication Service Improvement.

2004

Sep. Participation in the establishment of the spam measure committee of the Internet Association Japan.
Sep. Participation in the Internet Governance Task Force (IGTF-J).

2005

Apr. Participation in the Telecommunications Personal Information Protection Promotion Center
(authorized organization for the protection of private information).
Nov. Participation in the establishment of the e-Net Caravan Promotion Council.
Dec.

Participation in the establishment of the Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum.

2006

Feb. Participation in the establishment of a network among operators on next generation networks.
Apr. Participation in the establishment of the Information Security Promotion Council in the telecommunication industry.

2011

Apr. Change to general incorporated association

2017

Jun. Mr. Yoshihiro Aida was elected as the 2nd chairman.
